The Manifesto

Hello, and welcome to my new blog.

Here, I'll be writing about design, in particular about user experience and the web.

I'm starting this blog based on one main belief, that everyone is qualified to improve the way something is done. I believe that, as users are the audience designers are trying to target, users, not just professionals, are able to make sensible decisions when it comes to creating user interfaces.

Therefore, even as an amateur, I feel I should be able to talk about such things. My observations and ideas would be those of a user, and because of that, they might be worthy of consideration when planning a design.

I believe that software and web designers should put usability before aesthetics. When aesthetics are concerned, priority should be placed on the comfort and viewing ease of the user, not visual effects. While visual elements can enhance user experience, one must make certain that they would not hinder usability. Design should help present the content and not interfere with it.

I hope this blog will prove somewhat useful and vaguely thought-provoking in the future.
